Job Description
A respected healthcare system in Hobbs, New Mexico is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. This opportunity is designed for physicians seeking flexible call-only coverage with a manageable workload and the potential for recurring monthly assignments.

The position primarily consists of 24-hour beeper call coverage, with no requirement to remain on-site while on call. Providers will manage orthopedic consults, evaluate emergency cases, and perform surgical procedures as clinically indicated. The facility utilizes Epic EMR and offers a supportive practice environment with a consistently light patient census.

Job Responsibilities
Provide 24-hour orthopedic beeper call coverage
Evaluate and manage orthopedic emergencies and consultations
Perform orthopedic surgical procedures as needed
Coordinate care with emergency medicine physicians and hospital staff
Document patient care using Epic EMR
Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered orthopedic care
Participate in the hospital privileging and credentialing process
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation

Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery or Board Eligible within 3–5 years of residency
Active New Mexico medical license
Active New Mexico DEA registration
Eligible to enroll in the New Mexico Patient Compensation Fund (PCF)
Recent orthopedic case logs from the past 24 months
Ability to complete hospital privileging and payer credentialing (approximately 90 days)
Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills

Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
No on-site presence required while on call

December 18 – December 28, 2026
January 2 – January 17, 2027
Ongoing Schedule for 2027-2028
Approximately 2 weeks per month
Additional coverage may become available based on facility needs
