Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage at a Level I trauma facility in Ohio. This assignment offers a collaborative academic environment, comprehensive orthopedic trauma care, and the opportunity for flexible coverage for up to one year.
Assignment Details

• Start Date: January 2027
• Coverage Type: Scheduled + On Call
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, with flexibility based on provider availability
• Shift: Day shift, typically 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Call: Approximately a couple of days per month
• Full-time coverage preferred; flexible arrangements considered
• Setting: Onsite hospital coverage

Clinical Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive orthopedic trauma care
• Treat pelvic, long-bone, and lower-extremity fractures
• Manage trauma involving the hip and below
• Review imaging and provide oversight to residents covering the Emergency Department
• Coverage may include one or multiple trauma rooms

Patient Population & Volume
• Approximately 350–475 trauma patients annually
• Primarily patients age 13 and older
• Pediatric trauma is rare
• Hand, wrist, and spine trauma are not included

Trauma Team & Support
• Three trauma surgeons on staff
• Approximately three PAs/NPs and three residents per shift
• Additional physician support available throughout the hospital

Requirements
• Fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma
• Minimum of five years of experience
• Board certified
• Significant Level I trauma experience
• Experience managing complex orthopedic trauma cases
• Active Ohio medical license required; willing to assist with licensing
• BLS and ACLS required
