Orthopedic Surgeon – Contract (VA Medical Center Oklahoma City)
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Schedule: Full-time, Onsite
Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Overview:
The Orthopedic Surgeon will provide onsite orthopedic physician services to Veterans at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. This includes outpatient and inpatient care, consultations, procedures within scope, and full clinical documentation. All work is performed onsite using VA-provided facilities, equipment, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive orthopedic evaluations and treatment plans.
• Manage outpatient orthopedic clinic visits for acute and chronic conditions.
• Perform inpatient consults, rounds, and follow-up care as needed.
• Conduct orthopedic procedures within the scope authorized by the VA.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
• Review diagnostic imaging and coordinate care with other specialties.
• Complete all documentation in the VA CPRS medical records system on time.
• Enter notes, orders, consults, and follow-up documentation per VA standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with staff.
• Ensure continuity of care and maintain all VA compliance requirements.
• Deliver services in accordance with VA clinical guidelines and quality standards.
Qualifications:
• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
• DEA registration (if required).
• BLS/ACLS certification per VA policy.
• Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements.
Contract Details:
• This is a 1099 independent contractor role.
• Full-time onsite orthopedic physician coverage.
• No equipment required; VA provides exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Contractor provides professional services only and must follow all VA policies.
