Pediatric Inpatient Pain NP Locums Opportunity – Boston, MA
Job description
Highlights:
• Primarily weekend coverage with flexible blocked scheduling
• Work alongside a dedicated pediatric pain and anesthesia team
• Opportunity to care for complex patients in a nationally recognized pediatric setting
Opportunity Details
Location: Boston, MA
Assignment Length:
• 3 months with option to extend
Schedule:
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Highest need is for night coverage
• Preferred schedules:
• Friday–Sunday
• Saturday–Monday nights
• Weekend-only coverage also considered
Practice Details:
• Inpatient Pain Service within the Anesthesia Department
• Pediatric patient population
• Average census: 10–12 patients
• EPIC EMR
• No procedures required
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Management of post-surgical pain
• Cancer-related pain management
• Sickle cell pain management
• Management of patients on PCA pumps and epidurals
• Care of critically ill patients and patients being weaned from sedatives
• Pain assessments, medication management, and multidisciplinary collaboration
Support Staff:
• Attending Physician
• Charge APRN during days
• 4 APRNs Monday–Saturday
• 3 APRNs on Sundays
Requirements:
• Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
• Active Massachusetts License Required
• DEA Required
• CSR Required
• PALS Required
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Experience in pediatric pain management preferred
• Strong assessment skills and clinical judgment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Additional Requirements:
• MMR and Varicella vaccination required
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccination required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)
• Must be prepared to complete credentialing paperwork immediately
Credentialing:
• Approximately 60 days
• Facility is not willing to license
