Cardiac Anesthesiologist needed in Washington - Willing to License
Job description
Aya Locums is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity. This position offers expedited credentialing, a flexible start date upon credentialing completion, and the opportunity to work with a dedicated cardiac anesthesia team in a highly specialized practice.
Position Details
-Start Date: As soon as credentialed
-Contract Length: Ongoing
-Credentialing: Expedited emergency privileges available; completed applications may be processed within 1–2 days
-Licensure: Active license or IMLC accepted
-Call: Beeper call only (not in-house)
Practice Setting
-Dedicated pediatric cardiac anesthesia program
-Solo physician model with no CRNA support
-Adult congenital cardiac patients and pediatric cardiac cases
-Patient population primarily 18+ for adult congenital cardiac services, with pediatric cardiac anesthesia support as appropriate
Case Mix
-Cardiac operating room cases
-Cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures
-Electrophysiology (EP) procedures
-Cardiac CT and MRI imaging requiring anesthesia
Typical daily schedule includes:
-Approximately 1 cardiac OR case
-Approximately 3 cardiac catheterization procedures
-2–3 cardiac imaging studies per day
Core Cardiac Team Responsibilities
-Cardiac bypass surgery
-Cardiac catheterization procedures (with backup support at minimum for all cases)
-Neonatal cardiac surgery
-Mediastinal explorations
-Cardiac ECMO procedures
-Quality improvement and process initiatives
-Heart Center program development and governance
This Position Does Not Cover
-Obstetrics
-General pediatric call
-Adult call
-Adult anesthesia cases outside of adult congenital cardiac patients
Preferred
-Completion of an accredited Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship (or equivalent advanced subspecialty training)
-Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Anesthesiology
Alternative Qualifications
-Providers without a Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they demonstrate substantial experience with:
-Neonatal cardiac surgery
-Infant cardiac surgery
-Complex congenital heart surgery
-Interventional cardiology procedures
-Electrophysiology procedures
Additional Requirements
-Recent case logs from the past 12 months are required
-Experience with the full spectrum of cardiac bypass cases is expected
-Recent neonatal cardiac experience is highly preferred
-Candidates with stronger cardiac catheterization experience than operating room experience are still encouraged to apply for consideration
