Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery APP (CPNP-AC or PA-C) | California | 6-Month Contract

Job description

A hospital in California is seeking an experienced CPNP-AC or PA-C to support their Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This full-time locum position involves managing cardiac stepdown patients, participating in ICU consults, and collaborating closely with a robust surgical team. Some post-transplant care is required; however, pre-transplant management is not part of the scope.

Responsibilities Include:

Managing 3–8 stepdown cardiac patients/day (heavier on weekends)

Prepping patients for discharge

ICU consults

Family/surgical consent

Performing or assisting with procedures (chest tubes, intracardiac line removal)

Variable day shift with possible OT if scrubbing into cases

EMR: EPIC

Support Structure:

6 APPs

2 fellows

3 surgical attendings

🛠 Requirements:
NPs: Must be CPNP-AC certified

PAs: Must hold a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies

Licensure: Active California license + DEA (Schedule II) required

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience required

Will consider candidates with:

Pediatric cardiac experience

Adult CT surgery or transplant experience

Cardiac stepdown (adult or pediatric)

• Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown + ICU Consults
• Schedule: 4x10s, day shift with 1 weekend/month
• Start ASAP with 6 month contract.
