Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery (Locum Tenens) CA

Job description

Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Contract Length: 3 months, ongoing
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Setting: Outpatient clinic / private practice

Position Highlights

Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday

Work alongside a collaborative team of 3 cardiac surgeons

Mix of administrative and clinical responsibilities (approx. 60% admin / 40% clinical)

No surgical or invasive procedures performed in clinic

EPIC EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

Support cardiothoracic surgeons with pre- and post-operative patient care

Perform wound care and suturing

Conduct patient evaluations and follow-up visits

Manage clinical documentation and care coordination

Practice Support

Team includes: 3 MDs, 2 front office staff, 1 surgery scheduler, and 2 medical assistants

Patient volume: 35–40 patients per week (lighter Mondays, busiest on Tuesdays)

All-age patient population

Provider Requirements

Board Certified Nurse Practitioner

Active California license (required)

Active DEA registration

BLS certification

Minimum 2 years of experience (preferably in cardiothoracic surgery or a related specialty)

Strong background in pre/post-op care and minor clinical procedures

Additional Details

Credentialing timeframe: 60–75 days (expedited options may be available)
