PCICU/CVPICU - NP or PA

Job description

Start Date: 02/02/2026
Contract Length: 4 months, with option to extend
Shift Details: Variable 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Providers must be able to cover at least 50% nights or weekends. Opportunities for night/weekend call may be available but are not guaranteed.

Work Details

Support Staff:

Two teams, each with 1 attending, 3 NPs, and 1 fellow

Overnight coverage: 1 attending & 2 NPs

Coverage Needed: Minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month

Patient Load: 17–18 patients/day

Patient Population:

Majority pediatrics

Neonatal unit: 8 beds

~8% adult congenital population

Department Overview:

~350 surgical cases/year

Majority surgical patients

Includes heart failure, vented patients, pre/post-op, cath patients, ECMO, and transplant (pre/post-op)

ECMO experience strongly preferred

Hospital Details:

EMR: EPIC

Unit Size: 18 beds

Special Procedures

APPs may perform: IVs, arterial lines, possible intubations or central lines

Most procedures are completed by fellows or attendings

Required Skills

Comfortable working in a PCICU inpatient setting

Experience with neonatal through adult congenital populations

Strong cardiovascular critical care knowledge, especially pediatric

Experience managing ECMO/CRRT

Flexible, strong communicator, and willing to work nights/weekends
