New Opportunity Located in Northern CA with Aya Locums: PCICU NP/PA

Job description

Aya Locums is seeking an experienced PCICU NP/PA for a locum assignment at a hospital in Northern California.

Assignment Details
• Start Date: June 2026
• Contract Length: 6 months with option to extend
• Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours
• Schedule: Variable 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Availability Requirement: Must be able to provide at least 50% night and/or weekend coverage
• Minimum Shifts: At least 4 shifts per month
• Call: Optional night and weekend call (not guaranteed)

Work Details
• Support Staff: 2 teams each with 1 attending, 3 NPs, and 1 fellow; overnight coverage includes 1 attending and 2 NPs
• Patients per Day: 17–18
• Patient Population: Primarily pediatric and neonatal (8 beds), with ~8% adult congenital
• Department Description: High-acuity PCICU with ~350 surgical cases/year; majority surgical patients including heart failure, ventilated patients, pre/post-op cardiac, catheterization, ECMO, and transplant cases
• Procedures: IV placement, arterial lines; potential for intubation and central lines (most procedures performed by fellows/attendings)
• EMR: Epic

Requirements
• Board Certification: CPNP-AC required
• License: Active California license required for NPs (PAs don't require a license initially)
• DEA: California DEA with Schedule II required
• Certifications Required: PALS, BLS
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of PCICU experience required (must be pediatric cardiovascular critical care; no stepdown or general ICU only); ECMO/CRRT experience preferred; heart failure experience a plus
