PA - Pediatric Acute Cardiac Care - Locum Tenens - Dallas, TX Area

Job description

A leading academic medical center in the Dallas, TX area is seeking a Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment in Pediatric Acute Cardiac Care.

The Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU) is a 44-bed inpatient unit specializing in the care of high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients. The unit functions as a higher-acuity step-down environment that supports patients transitioning from the ICU. APPs work alongside residents and fellows under a collaborative coverage model that ensures continuous, comprehensive patient care.

Service lines include General Cardiology (pre- and post-operative care for congenital and acquired conditions) and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Care (heart failure and heart transplant). APPs may rotate across teams and write daily progress notes. Patients commonly present with stable VADs, trach/vent dependence, inotropic infusions (Milrinone, Dopamine), chest tubes, external pacing wires, and stable peritoneal dialysis. BC Critical Care Certification is required.

Coverage: Scheduled, no call. Shift: 13-hour PM shifts (7p-8a). Day-shift ratios are roughly 6-7 patients per provider; night shift up to 15 patients per provider with 3 total providers.
