Pediatric Gastroenterologist Needed for Flexible Weekend Locums Coverage in South Carolina

Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a Pediatric Gastroenterologist for a long-term weekend assignment in South Carolina. Coverage is expected to begin in October 2026 and continue through September 2027.

The preferred schedule is Friday at 3:00 p.m. through Monday at 7:00 a.m., although the start and end times may be negotiated. Weekly coverage is preferred, but the facility is open to discussing a consistent partial schedule.

Assignment details include:

Consult-only Pediatric Gastroenterology service
Approximately 8 to 12 patients on the service each day
Typically, about half of the patients require weekend rounding
Patient population includes newborns, pediatric patients, and adolescents
Coverage is limited to one hospital
Epic EMR
Foreign-body procedures are part of the service
Additional urgent scopes are performed at the physician’s discretion
Urgent GI issues, including bleeds, are uncommon but must be managed when necessary
No supervision of residents or fellows required

Candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology or Gastroenterology and have at least two years of recent experience. A South Carolina license is required, but Aya Locums is willing to assist the right physician with obtaining one.

Compensation is negotiable, and I am willing to discuss the rate you would need to make the assignment worthwhile. Travel, lodging, and rental-car arrangements are available.

Physicians who cannot provide weekly coverage are still encouraged to apply. Please share your availability, preferred weekend frequency, and compensation requirements.
