Position Overview & Work Environment

A regional acute care facility in the Bay City, MI area is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a night-shift contract. The clinician must be comfortable working within a facility float pool, providing comprehensive direct patient care, continuous telemetry monitoring, and emergency response across med-surg and telemetry floors.

Core Responsibilities

Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments upon admission and monitor ongoing physiological trends throughout the patient's hospital stay.

Medication & Treatment: Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications (including IV therapy), manage complex wound care, and operate specialized clinical equipment.

Emergency Stabilization: Recognize early signs of clinical deterioration and initiate rapid intervention and emergency stabilization procedures.

Unit Floating: Flexible assignment across Medical-Surgical and Telemetry inpatient units as part of the facility float pool.

Facility Operational & Attendance Policy

Attendance Tracking: The facility enforces a strict three-strike attendance policy to maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios:

An attendance strike is issued for any unapproved absence, arriving more than 20 minutes late, leaving a shift early without authorization, or failing to complete a full scheduled shift.

Accumulation of three (3) attendance strikes results in immediate assignment termination.

Extenuating circumstances (e.g., communicable illness or hospitalization supported by official medical documentation) are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
