Job description

Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting an experienced Pediatric Hospitalist Locum need in Eureka, California (CA). The team is anticipating the coverage from one more local provider estimated for May 2026 and extendable. The role offers a competitive market rate and Locums benefit.


46502 - Pediatric Hospitalist Locum Role:
· EMR: EPIC
· Schedule: 6am-6am, 24- call only (no in-house required)
· Rate: 24-hr call (4-hr rounding), Call-Back (after 4-hours).
· Census: Well babies (1-5), up to 6-7. NICU 0-5 (usually 1-3). Peds 0-1 (usually 0).
· Procedures:
· Neonatal: Don’t do central lines outside the newborn period, chest tube insertion (only neonatal).
· Pediatric: ED – chest tubes, intubations for pediatric patients.
· Preferred: Ventilator management.

Requirements of the Pediatric Hospitalist Locum role:
CA state license; active, unrestricted. Will consider IMLC candidates.
Board Certification/Board Eligibility (must obtain certificate within 3-5 years post residency).
DEA, NRP, BLS, ACLS, PALS.
Clean Malpractice – preferred.
Credentialing Note: privileging to begin once facility application is in.
Required Procedures:
Neonatal airway management including intubation
Management of neonatal air leak/pneumothorax including needle decompression
Emergent UVC placement (delivery room)
UVC/UAC placement
Lumbar puncture
EKG interpretation
