Job description
Shift & Schedule: 24-Hour Call (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM; includes weekdays and weekends; multiple consecutive shifts available)
Position Summary
A regional health system in the Potsdam, NY area is seeking a Board Certified Pediatric Hospitalist for ongoing 24-hour call coverage. The physician will manage newborn nursery care, pediatric inpatient beds, emergency department consults, and high-risk delivery attendances. The provider may remain off-site when no acute issues are present but must maintain a strict 20-minute response time when called in.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Details
Coverage Scope: Level 1 Newborn Nursery, Pediatric Inpatient Unit (0–3 beds), ER consults, and high-risk deliveries.
Critical Care: Resuscitate and stabilize critically ill newborns prior to NICU transport (2.5-hour transport radius).
Daily Census: Typically 4–10 newborns; 0–3 pediatric inpatients.
EMR System: Epic (templates and order sets provided).
On-Site Team & Support: 1 OB Physician and/or Midwife, 24/7 Anesthesia (CRNA/MD), and CMA support.
Qualifications & Submission Requirements
Board Status: Board Certified in Pediatrics [REQUIRED].
Licensure: Active New York State Medical License in hand [REQUIRED].
Certifications: Active NRP, PALS, and BLS (AHA or RQI certified) [REQUIRED].
Technical Experience: Epic EMR proficiency [REQUIRED].
Response Time: Ability to arrive at the hospital within 20 minutes while on call [REQUIRED].
Compensation & Logistics
Shift Structure: 24-Hour Call (Includes 4 hours gratis if called in for patient care).
Overtime & Holiday Rate: 1.25x the regular hourly rate.
Credentialing/Application Fee: $150 MD application fee paid by agency.
Documentation Requirement: Agency-branded CV required at time of submittal.
- 3 Months & Ongoing (5–7 shifts per month)
