Pediatric Nephrologist – Inpatient Coverage & Call

Job description

A children’s hospital is seeking a board-certified Pediatric Nephrologist to provide inpatient pediatric nephrology coverage and 24/7 call support. The physician will typically provide one continuous Friday-to-Friday service week per month.

The nephrologist will work alongside residents, medical students, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, transplant coordinators, dialysis nurse practitioners, and the broader renal team.

Schedule

This is a continuous Friday-to-Friday, 24/7 service week:

Monday–Friday: Onsite approximately 7:00/8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: Onsite approximately 7:00/8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or longer as needed
Overnight and after onsite hours: Call coverage from a nearby hotel
Response time: Approximately one hour if return to the hospital is required


Clinical Responsibilities

The physician will provide:

Inpatient pediatric nephrology consultations and admissions
Inpatient hemodialysis coverage
Continuous renal replacement therapy
Peritoneal dialysis
Plasmapheresis
Renal biopsies
Outpatient hemodialysis coverage as needed
Practice Support

The provider will be supported by:

Residents and medical students
Nurse practitioners
Nursing staff
Transplant coordinators
Dialysis nurse practitioners
Pediatric nephrology and renal team members

Requirements
Board certification in Pediatric Nephrology required or preferred
Active Missouri medical license required; candidates using the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) may be considered
