Join a highly specialized pediatric care team at a leading hospital-based outpatient practice in California! We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pediatric Optometrist for a full-time locum tenens assignment working with medically complex pediatric populations in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Job description
-Location: Oakland, CA
-Position: Pediatric Optometrist
-Start Date: August 3, 2026
-Duration: 26 weeks

Shift Details:
-Contract Length: 26 Weeks (6 Months)
-Schedule: Monday–Friday
-Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
-Coverage Needed: Full-time, 5 shifts/week

Position Overview:
Patient Volume: 12–14 patients per day
30-minute appointment slots
-First patient at 8:00 AM | Last patient at 4:30 PM
-Dedicated support team including: Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Experienced Technicians
-Techs perform diagnostic imaging and assist with workflows
-State-of-the-art imaging equipment available onsite
-EMR: Epic

Facility Details:
-This department primarily serves pediatric patients, including: High-acuity pediatric optometry cases, Strabismus/binocular vision evaluations, Patients with developmental delays, Children on the autism spectrum, Co-managed pediatric specialty patients, including seizure disorders and craniofacial abnormalities

Preferred Experience & Skills
-Pediatric optometry experience required
-Experience with complex pediatric populations in a medical center setting
-Strong skills in: Strabismus exams, Binocular vision evaluations, Pediatric patient care
-Preferred: Contact lens fitting, Complex pediatric contact lens fitting, Pediatric Optometry Residency

Requirements
-Doctor of Optometry (OD)
-Active California license required
-BLS certification required
-Pediatric residency highly preferred

Experience Requirements:
-Providers with pediatric residency are encouraged to apply regardless of years of experience
-Providers without pediatric residency must have at least 3 years of pediatric experience in a medical center setting
