Job description
Aya Locums is seeking a PM&R – General Rehab Physiatrist to provide scheduled inpatient rehabilitation coverage at a Level I Trauma Center in Washington. This opportunity offers a predictable weekday schedule with no call, a diverse adult rehabilitation population, and the opportunity to work alongside and supervise residents within a collaborative inpatient setting.
Assignment Details
• Start Date: November 2026
• Coverage Dates: Specific weeks in November, December, and February
• Coverage Type: Scheduled – No Call
• Schedule: Monday – Friday
• Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Setting: Inpatient Rehabilitation
• Patient Volume: Approximately 12 inpatients per day, with the possibility of a slightly higher census
• EMR: Epic
Work Details
• General inpatient rehabilitation with primary responsibility for managing inpatient rehab beds
• PM&R functions as the primary medical service for patients on the unit
• Approximately 30–40 patients are admitted to the unit each month, with each attending managing roughly half of the volume
• Providers may complete their individual patient work earlier in the day but must remain available through 5:00 PM for resident supervision and admissions
• Rehabilitation-focused position with no surgical component
• No EMGs
• Ventilator management is part of the role
Patient Population
• Primarily adults ages 18+
• Approximately 30% stroke
• Approximately 30% brain injury
• Approximately 30% spinal cord injury
• Patients may present with significant medical and social complexity, including challenging discharge planning
• The unit occasionally treats late-teen patients, approximately 6–8 per year
Skills & Qualifications
• General inpatient rehabilitation experience
• Comfortable managing approximately 12 inpatient beds daily
• Comfortable supervising residents and trainees
• Ability to manage medically and socially complex rehabilitation patients
• Spinal cord injury or brain injury fellowship training is a plus, but not required
• Comfort working at a private-practice-style pace is preferred
• Board Status: PM&R Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Experience: Residency required
• Washington License: Active Washington state license required
• Credentialing: Approximately 3–4 months
