LocumTenens.com Government Sales Team Wins U.S. Army Contract Physician Recruiting Firm Will Help Fill Psychiatry Jobs at Army Medical Facilities
ALPHARETTA, GA, October 31, 2007 The Government Sales division of LocumTenens.com, a leading physician recruiting firm, has been awarded the largest single contract in the firm's 13-year history as a subcontractor to Med Trust LLC, a woman-owned, Texas-based corporation. The companies combined forces to produce the winning bid from among those submitted by 21 healthcare staffing companies to help fill psychiatry jobs for the U.S. Army North Atlantic Regional Contracting Office ("Army").
Under the terms of the five-year, sole-source contract, LocumTenens.com will provide psychiatrists to fill the equivalent of 18 full-time psychiatrist jobs through October 2012 for Walter Reed Army Medical Center and affiliated healthcare facilities. Those include the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C.; Fort Belvoir, Fort Lee and Fort Eustis in Virginia; Fort Meade and Fort Myer in Maryland; and Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
"We are thrilled with this opportunity to serve our nation's veterans and the U.S. soldiers returning from war in the Middle East," LocumTenens.com Government Sales Director Terrence Smith said. He noted that the contract's awarding was based on both the technical strength of the proposal and the firms' past performance in meeting government healthcare needs. "We have dedicated a five-person recruiting team to ensuring that we provide highly qualified, credentialed psychiatrists to the designated medical facilities as quickly as possible."
Smith said physicians contracted through his firm will start reporting to their assigned psychiatry jobs as soon as the second week of November 2007. He noted that physicians working for government facilities can hold a license from a different state than the one in which they are working, which also speeds up response time for filling government physician jobs. (Typically, a physician must be licensed by the state in which he or she works.) Their caseloads will include seeing patients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and substance abuse issues as well as preparing soldiers for duty in the field.
Earlier this year LocumTenens.com was approved as a Disaster Recovery vendor under the Federal Supply Schedule. This designation opens the list of approved federal vendors to state governments following natural disasters or other emergency situations.
