New Guide Helps Residents Ready Themselves for Job Search

Alpharetta, GA, Aug. 1, 2013--As many residents begin what will be their final year of residency, more than clinical practice and patient care may be on their minds. Many will find themselves thinking about their next position, a good thing since it typically takes from six to 12 months for a resident to find a clinical job. To help residents and fellows get job search-ready in no time, physician staffing firm has prepared a new job search guide.

For many specialties, the opportunities are endless since competition for physicians is increasing. According to the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters 2012 In-House Benchmarking report, it took on average 222 days to fill a position. Days to fill primary care-related positions increased from 151 days to 125 days from the prior year due to increased competition. Only 51 percent of positions posted were filled at all, down from 60 percent in 2011.
