Location: Nueva Vista Residential Program – Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 10-Hour Shifts | 40 Hours per Week
Compensation: $80–$114/hour

Position Overview
Nueva Vista is seeking an experienced Child Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric care services for pediatric patients in a residential treatment setting. This onsite position offers a consistent Monday–Thursday schedule with 10-hour shifts, providing excellent work-life balance while serving a vulnerable child and adolescent population.
The provider will assume coverage for an established full-time role currently staffed at 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for child and adolescent patients
Develop individualized treatment plans
Provide medication management and ongoing psychiatric follow-up
Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Participate in care coordination and treatment planning meetings
Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric support as needed
Qualifications
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
Active California license preferred
Experience working with child/adolescent psychiatric populations required
Experience in residential or behavioral health settings preferred
DEA and furnishing license required

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for child and adolescent patients
Develop individualized psychiatric treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs
Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychotropic medications
Perform routine psychiatric follow-up appointments and ongoing patient evaluations
Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, case managers, and multidisciplinary treatment teams
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the EMR system
Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and care coordination activities
Monitor patient progress, response to treatment, and behavioral health outcomes
Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric support when clinically indicated
Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations
Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards of care
Support continuity of care and discharge planning for pediatric behavioral health patients

Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) required
Active California Nurse Practitioner license required or ability to obtain quickly
Active DEA registration and California furnishing license required
Minimum of 1–2 years of psychiatric experience preferred
Experience treating child and adolescent patient populations required
Previous experience in residential treatment, inpatient psychiatry, or behavioral health settings preferred
Strong assessment, diagnostic, and medication management skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
Comfortable managing a high-acuity behavioral health population
Current BLS certification preferred
Must be able to pass credentialing and background requirements
