Position Overview & Clinical Scope
A community hospital in southern Vermont is seeking an Inpatient Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) for daytime coverage. The NP will manage an adult inpatient and observation load, overseeing patient stabilization, step-down level care, and discharge planning in a collegial environment supported by night-shift MDs, an ED team, surgical staff, and case management.
Clinical Responsibilities & Patient Volume
Patient Load: Average of 8 to 10 adult inpatient/observation patients per day (100% inpatient admissions).
Acuity & Scope: Manage floor-level, observation, and intermediate/step-down care patients; manage initial stabilization of critically ill patients prior to tertiary transport.
Required Procedures & Skills: Respond to facility codes and rapid responses. Experience with ventilator management is preferred.
EHR System: Cerner CommunityWorks with integrated AI scribe documentation support.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements
Licensure, Certification & Education:
Advanced Practice Certification: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification [REQUIRED].
Board Status: Board Certified (BC) by a recognized national organization [REQUIRED].
State Licensure: Active Vermont APRN License (or willingness to obtain) [REQUIRED].
Federal & Life Support Credentials: Active DEA Registration, BLS, and ACLS Certifications [REQUIRED].
Experience & Background Rules:
Clinical Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of clinical inpatient/hospitalist adult medicine experience [REQUIRED].
Background & Malpractice: Clean background with zero malpractice or licensure issues [REQUIRED; NO EXCEPTIONS].
Documentation: Active NPDB Self-Query Report generated within the past 30 days [REQUIRED AT OFFER].
