Medical Physicist Locum Opportunity – Allentown, PA
Job description
We are seeking an ABR-Certified Diagnostic Medical Physicist for a full-time locum assignment in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a collaborative imaging team focused on radiation safety, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement across a modern healthcare system.
Position Highlights
Monday–Friday
8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Full-time daytime schedule
Travel and lodging provided
No Pennsylvania license required

Responsibilities
Perform acceptance testing and performance verification for new and existing diagnostic imaging equipment.
Optimize imaging performance and image quality across multiple modalities.
Conduct compliance testing to ensure equipment meets manufacturer, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Support quality management initiatives for diagnostic imaging equipment.
Troubleshoot image quality concerns and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with radiation safety and patient dose monitoring programs.
Support the Radiation Safety Officer and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with PA Department of Environmental Protection, ACR, The Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Calculate and evaluate radiation doses for patients and staff as needed.
Requirements
ABR Certification required
Diagnostic Medical Physicist experience (Therapeutic Physicists will not be considered)
Master's degree in Medical Physics (CAMPEP accredited preferred), Medical Physics, Health Physics, or equivalent
Grandfathered Medical Physicists meeting PA DEP, MQSA, and ACR requirements will also be considered
Minimum of 1 year of institutional diagnostic medical physics experience
Experience with quality assurance, radiation safety, imaging compliance, and diagnostic imaging equipment
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Diagnostic Medical Physicist seeking a weekday-only assignment with travel covered while supporting a high-quality imaging program in eastern Pennsylvania.
