Psychiatry Locum Opportunity – San Jose, CA

We are seeking an Adult & Child Psychiatrist for a long-term, part-time locum opportunity in San Jose, California. The provider will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health services to patients ages 5 and older, including adults.

Position Highlights:

Part-time: 12–16 hours per week
Flexible Monday–Friday schedule
In-person requirement: minimum 1 day per week
Long-term opportunity
Local/drive-in candidates preferred; candidate must be within approximately 30 miles of ZIP code 95128
Start date is flexible based on credentialing

Responsibilities:

Conduct psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and mental status examinations
Diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide ongoing medication management
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances when appropriate
Review laboratory and diagnostic information relevant to patient care
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and medical records
Collaborate with clinical staff, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
Provide guidance and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as needed

Requirements:

Active California medical license
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Must be comfortable treating children/adolescents and adults
Experience with psychiatric evaluations and medication management
Authorized to prescribe controlled substances
Ability to work onsite at least one day per week
Flu and COVID vaccination required, subject to applicable exemptions

Credentialing: Approximately 30–60 days.

• $200/hr+ – Facility is open to considering a higher rate for the right candidate.
