Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician | Night Call Coverage | Gadsden, AL | Immediate Need

Job description

Start: September 17, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Initial block September 17-21, 2026; requisition open through 13 weeks
Coverage: 24-hour on call - call only, beeper coverage
Schedule: Nights, 19:00-7:00
Volume: Approximately 6-10 phone consults and 25-30 patients seen per shift
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital, Level III trauma - inpatient critical care, 32-bed department
Population: Adults

Responsibilities:
- Provide overnight critical care coverage via beeper call
- Manage medical critical care presentations including cardiac arrest and failure, respiratory arrest and failure, sepsis, metabolic disorders, renal failure, overdose and poisoning, and drowning
- Manage pre- and post-operative surgical patients across general, vascular, orthopedic, neurosurgical, and cardiothoracic services
- Invasive ventilation management (ETT, nasotracheal, tracheostomy) and non-invasive support (BiPAP, CPAP)
- Chest tube insertion
- Documentation in Cerner

Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease / Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
- Fellowship training preferred
- BLS required
- Active Alabama license required - IMLC accepted
- Provider must reside 90+ miles from the facility
- COVID-19 vaccination required - medical and religious exemptions only

Credentialing:
- Credentialing timeframe: approximately 14 days; temporary privileges available
