Orthopedic Surgeon – Sports Medicine Opportunity
Job description
6-Month Assignment | Level II Trauma Center
A facility is seeking a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon to support a growing program. This is a well-supported practice with a strong surgical volume and established team.
Schedule:
2 clinic days per week: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
2 OR days per week (typically starting at 7:30 AM; flexible scheduling available)
Call Requirements:
Weekend Call: 1 in 7 weekends (Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM)
Weeknight Call: Shared among 6 surgeons
Some weeks no call, others 1 night/week
Includes ER phone consults and inpatient rounding (patients must be seen within 24 hours)
Practice Setting:
Level II Trauma Center
Collaborative team of 6 orthopedic surgeons (11 total providers)
APP support:
Assist in the OR
Manage post-op care and assist with call coverage
EMR: Epic
Case Mix:
High-volume sports medicine practice including:
ACL / MCL / PCL reconstructions
Meniscus procedures
Knee and ligament repairs
Hip arthroscopy (required)
Multi-ligament procedures (required)
Bread-and-butter sports medicine cases
Volume:
Clinic: 25–30 patients per day
OR: Approximately 8–10 cases per week
Requirements:
Sports Medicine fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon
Must have experience with:
Hip arthroscopy
Multi-ligament procedures
Active Illinois license or IMLC accepted
DEA required
Credentialing
Temporary privileges available
Estimated timeframe: ~3 months
