Locums Ortho/Sports Medicine Surgeon Needed in Illinois!
Job description
Reason for Vacancy: Vacancy in sports med program.
Start date: July/Asap
Length of Assignment: 6 months
Coverage needed: 2 8 hour days in clinic, 2 days in OR. Clinic days are 8-5p (with one hour lunch); OR days start at 730a. OR right now is Mondays and Fridays, but they can be flexible for the right candidate on when OR/clinic days fall within the week.
Call requirements:
-Weekend coverage: 1 in 7 weekends. Alternate one day a week (Some weeks no call, some weeks one day). Weekend shift times: Friday 5p- Monday 7a.
-Weeknight coverage: Sharing with 6 other surgeons, some weeks will have no weekday call, others will have one night/week. Call Night will fall on the same night as one of their shifts. Taking phone calls from the ER. Physician must also do a round, as bylaws state all patients need to be seen within 24 hours of admission.
Case mix / typical procedures: ACL/MCL/PCL, lots of knee and ligament, meniscus. Hip arthroscopy case experience a must, as well as multi lig procedures. Traditional Sports Medicine fellowship trained typical book of business. Bread and Butter SM.
Expected volume: 25-30 patients/day in clinic (current average); surgeries depending case mix (8-10/week
EMR system: Epic
Number of other surgeons/providers on staff? 6 Orthopedic Surgeons. Total staff of 11 for physician providers.
APP support (PA/NP)? Typically seeing post ops. APPs are the First Assists in the OR. APPs take calls from home and share the calls from ER.
Type of facility (hospital, ASC, Level I/II trauma, etc.): Level II Trauma Center
Credentialing timeframe? 3 months for temporary privileging.
Licensure: IL or IMLC required. Willing to take IMLC licensure candidates
