PCICU APP Locums Opportunity – High-Acuity Cardiac Care (California)

Specialty: PCICU
Location: California
Start Date: 02/02/2026
Length: 4 months, option to extend
Shifts: Variable 12-hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays)
Coverage: Must provide 50% night and/or weekend availability
Call: Optional; not guaranteed
Schedule
Minimum 4 shifts per month
Inpatient-only PCICU coverage
Clinical Environment
Two teams: each with 1 attending, 3 NPs, 1 fellow
Overnight: 1 attending + 2 NPs
Census: ~17–18 patients/day
Unit: 18 beds
Population: majority pediatric, neonatal beds, ~8% adult congenital
Annual surgical volume: ~350
Case mix: post-op cardiac surgery, heart failure, vents, ECMO, cardiac cath, CRRT, transplant
EMR: Epic
Procedures
APPs may perform IVs and arterial lines; possible intubations/central lines
Fellows/attendings perform most invasive procedures
