Must have an active NC License AND NC DEA.
Candidates will not be considered without both.
Role Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will serve a dedicated inpatient role within the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU), supporting the multidisciplinary critical care team in delivering continuous, high-quality care for complex surgical patients.
Responsibilities
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with attending physicians, residents, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, PT/OT, case managers, and specialists
Document daily progress and interim notes
Perform invasive procedures (as credentialed), including:
Intubation, bronchoscopy, chest tube placement
Central & arterial line placement
Laceration repair
Complex wound care
Monitor patient progress and provide family education
Facilitate timely transfers and discharge planning
Support trauma, general surgery, vascular, neurosurgery, and other surgical sub-specialties
Function with a high degree of autonomy in patient management
Schedule
Shift: 12-hour days, 6a–6p
Coverage: 365 days per year, ensuring consistent STICU APP coverage
Requirements
Active North Carolina license & NC DEA (non-negotiable)
Prior Critical Care experience required
Strong collaborative and communication skills for cross-specialty team environment
Board Certification required
