Surgical Critical Care Physician Needed in Flagstaff, AZ | 10-Bed SICU | Day Shifts | Licensure Assistance Available

Job description

Start: September 18, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Initial dates September 18, 19, 20, 21 - open to extension
Coverage: Surgical ICU and trauma inpatient coverage
Schedule: Day shift, 7:00-17:00 (10-hour shifts)
Call: No call
Volume: Approximately 10-20 SICU and trauma inpatients
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital - 10-bed Surgical ICU (SICU); Level I-IV trauma center
Support: Trauma APP team on site

Manage Surgical ICU patients and respond to trauma activations. Provide care for trauma patients in the Step-Down Unit and on the floor. Collaborate directly with Nurse Practitioners and APPs. Comfortable treating patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Complete all documentation directly in Cerner (notes are not entered by support staff). Day shifts are generally lighter, as an Acute Care Surgeon is present on the floor; on night shifts the Acute Care Surgeon is off-site and the Surgical ICU physician covers General Surgery, Trauma, and the SICU.

Requirements:
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Active ATLS certification
- Level I or Level II trauma center experience required
- Active Arizona medical license and DEA required - IMLC LOQ candidates will be considered (open to licensure)
- DEA must remain active in Arizona
- COVID-19 and flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- Credentialing timeline: approximately 21-30 days
- Cerner EMR - approximately 4 hours of remote training required before starting

• BE/BC General Surgery + Surgical Critical Care; ATLS required; Cerner EMR
