Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon with Surgical Critical Care experience to provide scheduled daytime coverage at a hospital in Arizona. This assignment offers a consistent weekday schedule, the opportunity to manage complex surgical ICU and trauma patients, and the chance to collaborate closely with an experienced trauma APP team.

Assignment Details
• Start Date: October 2026
• Coverage Type: Scheduled coverage with no call
• Schedule: Five 10-hour day shifts
• Shift Times: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Patient Volume: Approximately 10–20 inpatient SICU and trauma patients per day

Work Details
• Specialty: Surgical Critical Care / General Surgery
• Facility: 10-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Practice Setting: Hospital
• Patient Population: Adults and pediatrics
• Trauma Care: Respond to trauma activations and provide care for trauma patients in the step-down unit and on the floor
• Team Structure: Work collaboratively with Nurse Practitioners and the trauma APP team

Clinical Responsibilities
• Manage Surgical ICU patients
• Provide care for trauma patients throughout the hospital
• Collaborate effectively with Nurse Practitioners and APPs
• Complete all documentation directly in the EMR
• Treat patients of all ages, including pediatric patients
• Provide coverage in a setting where an Acute Care Surgeon is present on the floor during daytime hours

Requirements
• Board Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
• Experience: Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Certification: Active ATLS certification required
• License: Active Arizona medical license required or IMLC Letter of Qualification
• DEA: Required and must remain active in Arizona
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 21–30 days
