Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Surgical Oncology
Location: San Francisco, CA
Start Date: 5/11/2026
Contract Length: 26 weeks; potential option for extension

Schedule

Monday–Thursday
4×10 schedule
3 days onsite, 1 remote day each week
No weekends
No call
Full‑time only


Practice Details

Outpatient thoracic surgical oncology clinic
Provider works independently with RN support
Full‑time coverage required (no part‑time)
Patient population: adults
Mix of independent clinic and shared service with surgeons
Special procedures: drain removals, wound care, incision care
EMR: Epic
Academic‑style, high‑acuity outpatient environment


Clinical Scope

Manage adult thoracic surgical oncology patients in an outpatient setting
Conduct follow‑ups, post‑op visits, symptom management, and urgent evaluations
Perform basic outpatient procedures within scope (drain removals, wound care)
Independently develop and document care plans in Epic
Coordinate with surgeons and support staff for efficient patient flow
Handle in‑basket responsibilities and care coordination


Requirements

Nurse Practitioner — accepted certs include: A‑GNP‑C, ANP‑C, FNP‑C, GNP‑C, AGPCNP‑BC, ANP‑BC, FNP‑BC, GNP‑BC, ACNP‑BC, AGACNP‑BC, ACNPC‑AG, ACNPC
Valid California NP license required
California furnishing license required
California DEA with Schedule II/2N authority required
AHA BLS required
Minimum 2 years outpatient surgical oncology or thoracic surgery experience
University medical center experience strongly preferred
Epic experience preferred
PAs accepted only with master’s degree (per facility rules)


Credentialing

Estimated 60–90 days
Provider must submit all onboarding documents within 72 hours of offer to initiate privileging
1–3 interviews expected
