Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Needed in South Carolina
Target Start Date: February 1, 2026
Contract Length: 13‑week locum tenens assignment (through March 31, 2026) (potential ongoing assignment)

Schedule
Coverage Type: 24‑hour call
Shift Structure:

24‑hour call shifts (typically 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

5–7 call shifts per month

Confirmed Coverage Dates:

January: 1/30, 1/31

February: 2/1, 2/16, 2/27, 2/28

March: 3/1, 3/25, 3/27–3/29, 3/31

Practice Details
Setting: Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service within an acute care hospital
Support Staff:

1 cardiothoracic surgeon

2 APPs

OR and floor APP structure

EMR: eCW

Clinical Scope Includes:

Cardiothoracic surgical first assist

Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH) — required

Support for complex cardiovascular surgeries

Inpatient rounding and perioperative management

Collaboration with surgeon for high‑acuity CT cases

Requirements
Board Certification: Required

License: Active South Carolina license required (not willing to license)

Certifications:

Endovascular Vein Harvesting certification (mandatory)

Experience: Prior CT surgery experience required

Credentialing Timeframe: Minimum 90 days

Name Clear: Required prior to submission

Location
Charleston, South Carolina – Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service within an acute care hospital; local or travel candidates welcome
