Job description

We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in Athens, Georgia.

Assignment Details:
Location: Athens, GA
Start Date: Ongoing
Schedule: 5 shifts per month
Shift Type: 24-hour call coverage

Practice Setting:
427-bed hospital
EMR: Epic
Collaborative team including 2 cardiothoracic surgeons and 5 surgical APPs
Coverage needed due to upcoming surgeon retirement

Work Details:
Call coverage and inpatient rounding responsibilities
Approximately 5 hospital encounters per day (~25 per month)
Ability to collaborate closely with APPs for patient management and rounding
Clear communication with on-call APPs is essential

Procedures & Case Mix: Emergent CABG, Aortic disease, General cardiothoracic procedures

Requirements:
Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery (BE considered if fellowship trained in an accredited U.S. program)
Active Georgia license or IMLC
DEA required

Additional Information:
Credentialing timeframe: approximately 90-120 days
Preference given to providers with active Georgia license
IMLC candidates considered for expedited licensing
