Locum Tenens Cardiac Surgeon – Baltimore, MD -Call Only

Job description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeon to provide vacation call coverage in Baltimore, MD. This position is strictly call-based with no scheduled clinic or elective cases during the assignment.

Assignment Details:
- Location: Baltimore, MD
- Shift: 24-hour call coverage (1 week at a time)
- Vacation coverage, ongoing needs possible
- Call Volume: Rarely called in – only for emergent cases
- Patient Population: Adults, 18+

Support:
- 2 cardiac surgeons (1 FTE, 1 PRN)
- OR APP (PA) + ICU APP on call
- All elective cases paused – emergent only
- 2 Cardiac ORs (1 running at a time)


Requirements:
- Board Certified – American Board of Thoracic Surgery
- Active MD license or IMLC eligible (emergency privileges possible in 3–4 weeks)
- DEA required
- ACLS required
- Minimum 1 year experience

Must be familiar with post-op cardiac surgery patients & ventilator management

No vein harvesting or transplant experience required
