Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Major Twin Cities Heart Network

Job description

A large, integrated, not-for-profit health system in the Twin Cities is seeking a cardiothoracic surgeon for a locum tenens float-pool role starting in early 2026. Join a nationally recognized heart and vascular service with strong outcomes, modern facilities, and a mix of tertiary and community practice.

Practice Setting:
• Anchor at a busy downtown tertiary hospital with advanced cardiac services
• Float to additional metro and regional hospitals within the same system
• Collaborative environment with cardiology, ICU, perfusion, APPs and experienced OR staff

Clinical Scope:
• Core: CABG and valve surgery
• Aortic aneurysms and dissections
• Atrial fibrillation surgery/maze procedures
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Heart failure surgery, transplant, and LVAD (depending on site)
• Lung and esophageal surgery
• Minimally invasive and robotic heart / thoracic procedures
• ED consults, inpatient rounding, and admissions as needed

Schedule & Call:
• Locum tenens (1099) assignment
• Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• 1 in 3 call week rotation
o Call weeks include daytime coverage, overnight (5 p.m. – 7 a.m.), and a weekend of 24-hour call
• 13-week initial commitment, with flexibility to extend
