Job description
Contract Length: ongoing
Shift Details: Full time plus call coverage
Schedule: Monday – Friday – 8am – 5pm plus full-time call coverage
Average amount of Call Back: consists mostly of Blood Bank issues (1-2/week)
Work Details:
Support staff: Histology: 2 full time histotechs, who gross biopsies and gallbladders, attend FNAs performed by Radiology and Bone Marrows performed by Oncology; few special stains done inhouse, Immunohistochemistry performed by LabCorp with images available online.
Main lab: Full time Lab system director with experienced senior tech for each department
Amount of coverage needed per month: Full-time
Patients per day:
Patient population/age: Mostly adult; rare pediatric peripheral smear reviews, otherwise, for peds specimens are tonsils and appendix.
Department description: Level IV trauma
EMR: Cerner / Paragon
Hospital bed size: 70 beds
Special procedures:
Skills required: comfortable with occasional frozen section, cytology: urines, Bronch washes and brushes, pleural and ascitic fluids. Thyroid FNAs go to LabCorp
