Trauma Neurosurgery APP Needed in Oakland, CA

Job description

• Start Date: September
• 26-week assignment
• Schedule: 4x10s weekly
• Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Shifts may extend depending on case volume and census

Position Overview:
This hospital-based neurosurgery role includes a mix of inpatient coverage, outpatient clinic responsibilities, and operating room assistance. The facility sees a high volume of neuro-trauma cases and requires providers with strong Level 1 trauma experience.

Practice Details:
• EMR: Epic
• Inpatient census: 8–15 patients/day
• Outpatient census: Approximately 20 patients/day shared with attending physician
• APPs assist with inpatient care, clinic coverage, and OR support
• Surgical drain removal required
• Other bedside procedures performed with attending physician

Support Staff:
• Monday–Thursday: 2 additional APPs onsite
• Friday: 1 additional APP onsite
• Saturday–Sunday: Solo APP coverage with attending physicians and RNs available for support

Requirements:
• Minimum 1–2 years of neurosurgery experience required
• Must have both inpatient and outpatient experience
• Neuro-trauma experience required
• Must have Level 1 trauma experience
• First assist experience preferred
• NPs must have RNFA certification if interested in first assisting

Licensure & Certifications:
• CA license required for NPs
• Facility may assist with licensing for PAs
• BLS & ACLS required
