PA Trauma Surgery – Locum Tenens – Robbinsdale, MN (Twin Cities Area)
Job description
A Level I adult trauma center (with pediatric coverage) in the Robbinsdale, MN area – just outside Minneapolis in the Twin Cities metro – is seeking a Locum Physician Assistant for trauma surgery coverage.
Dates of Coverage: May – July, up to full-time work.
Practice Setting: Primarily function as a trauma hospitalist rounder. May have intermittent ED consults, trauma activations, and procedures. Surgical and trauma critical care experience is a plus. Call Ratio: no call – in-house only. Average daily volume: 10–14 admitted patients to round on if non-ICU, 6 if ICU; admitting/ED volume 2–15 per 24-hour shift. EMR: EPIC. APPs work autonomously and are staffed with a Trauma Surgeon 24 hours per day. Patient demographic: 0–100, but primarily adult and adolescent. Preferred local providers – only mileage is reimbursed.
Required Procedures (preferred, not all required): non-invasive vent management (BiPAP/CPAP), ventilation management, chest tube insertion, central lines, arterial lines, and suturing minor lacerations. Required of the APP: responding to the ED for trauma alerts, facilitating discharges, ER admissions, and daily rounding and management of all conditions (no hospitalists used – APP must be fully able to be attending on all patient conditions).
Submission Requirements: Board Certified (PA-C); MN license at time of name clear; ATLS, PALS, ACLS required; NOC shift 7p–7:30a; DEA verbal confirmation at time of name clear; Self-Query NPDB report pulled within the same month as the submission; minimum 1 year of practice as an APP in the inpatient setting, optimally with trauma, ICU, and/or orthopedics.
