Acute Care Surgery – Trauma Physician

Location:** Bellingham, Washington
Start Date:** ASAP – no later than January 2027
Assignment Length:** 6 months
FTE Needed:** 3.0
Reason for Opening:** Coverage gap
Setting:** Hospital – Inpatient & Outpatient
**Hospital Beds:** 241

Schedule

* 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
* 12 hours on-site with the remaining 12 hours as backup call
* Coverage needed for up to 6 shifts per week, including days and nights
* 12 hours on-site + 12 hours backup call
* Rounding and admissions required
* Overnight coverage is solo
* Daytime coverage includes an APC

Clinical Details

* Acute Care Surgery and Trauma patients
* Patient population includes ED, OR, and ICU
* Average daily volume: approximately 24 patients
* Required procedures: All Trauma and Acute Care Surgery
* Must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

* MD/DO or APC
* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgery
* ATLS required
* 50 documented trauma cases within the last 5 years
* Trauma case logs will be reviewed by the Trauma Medical Director
* Trauma cases during the first year are subject to peer review in conjunction with TQIC
* Applicants must demonstrate major operative experience within the past 24 months
* Case logs, quality profile, or documentation of recent hospital-based clinical activity may be required
* Epic proficiency required
* Washington license: **Open to licensing, but a license in hand is highly preferred due to the anticipated start date**
