Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Trauma Surgeon to join our inpatient trauma service. This locums position offers both daytime and nighttime coverage with the flexibility to take optional call. The ideal candidate is skilled, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-acuity environment.
Schedule
Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (10.5 hours)
Night Shift: 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. (13.5 hours)
Monthly Shifts: 14 twelve-hour equivalent shifts
Work Details
Support Staff:
Days:
1 attending surgeon for floor rounding + ED call
1 attending surgeon in ICU
2–3 APPs for floor rounding + ED call
2–3 residents across the service
Nights:
1 attending surgeon covering ICU, floor, and ED
1 APP for floor + ED
2–3 residents supporting ICU + ED
1–2 Trauma Nurse Leads
Patient Volume: ~35 patients per day shared among providers
EMR: Cerner PowerChart
Required Skills:
Tube thoracostomy
Central venous catheter placement
Arterial line placement (preferred)
Qualifications
Board-certified or board-eligible in Trauma Surgery / General Surgery with Trauma experience
Active state license (or ability to obtain)
Comfortable managing high-acuity trauma cases in an inpatient setting
