Job description
A busy trauma program is seeking a Board Certified Trauma Surgeon for ongoing inpatient coverage in a collaborative, high-acuity environment. This opportunity offers consistent scheduling, strong APP and resident support, and the ability to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary trauma team.
Position Highlights
Ongoing coverage opportunity
Flexible scheduling with approximately 14 shifts per month
Night shifts available with optional 24-hour coverage opportunities
Dedicated call room provided for night coverage
Strong support from APPs, residents, and trauma nurse leads
High-volume Level II trauma environment
Schedule
Night shifts available
Weekend and holiday coverage included
12-hour shift structure
Optional 24-hour shifts available but not required
Clinical Responsibilities
Trauma floor coverage
ICU management
ED trauma coverage
Procedural support and emergent trauma care
Shared patient load within collaborative trauma service
Practice Environment
Inpatient trauma surgery setting
Team-based model with attendings, APPs, and residents
Cerner PowerChart EMR
High-acuity trauma program with strong clinical infrastructure
Required Skills:
Providers should be comfortable with:
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Tube thoracostomy
Central venous catheter placement
Arterial line placement preferred
Managing critically ill trauma patients independently
Requirements
Board Certified in Trauma Surgery
Active North Carolina medical license required
Active North Carolina DEA required
ATLS certification required
Experience in high-acuity trauma environments preferred
