Position Overview
A long-term locum tenens opportunity is available for a Urologist to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient coverage beginning January 2027.
This position follows a 7-on/7-off schedule, providing approximately 14 days of coverage per month. The assignment includes scheduled clinical hours, inpatient rounding, outpatient responsibilities, admissions, and 24-hour call coverage.
The ideal candidate will have strong general and adult Urology experience and be comfortable performing advanced endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures.
Schedule & Call
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- 24-hour coverage from 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
- Approximately 14 coverage days per month
- Combination of scheduled clinical hours and call
- Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
- Inpatient rounding required
- Admissions required
- Beeper call with a 20-minute response time
- Call ratio: 1
- Approximately 5 phone consultations per 24-hour call
- Locum call includes both inpatient and outpatient coverage
- Patient Volume & Population
- Approximately 10 patients per shift
- Primarily adult patients
- Pediatric Urology experience preferred
- Trauma-center environment requiring 24-hour Urology coverage
- Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures
The provider should be comfortable with a broad range of general and advanced Urologic procedures, including:
Advanced endoscopic techniques
Laparoscopic surgery
Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL)
Ureteroscopy
Radical cystectomy with ileal loop conduit
Radical prostatectomy
Nephrectomy
Prostatectomy
Pelvic lymph node dissection
Partial nephrectomy with intraoperative ultrasound
Adrenalectomy
Renal/bladder ultrasound with biopsy
TRUS biopsies
Support & Practice Environment
Hospital-based practice
Inpatient and outpatient coverage
Clinic/private practice responsibilities
Candidate Requirements
- Board Certified required; Board Eligible candidates may be considered
- Fellowship training required
- Active Indiana medical license or IMLC required
- ATLS and BLS required
- Strong general and adult Urology experience
- Experience with advanced endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures
- Comfortable providing 24-hour inpatient Urology coverage
- Comfortable with admissions, rounding, outpatient care, and emergency consultations
- Pediatric Urology experience preferred
Credentialing
- Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days
- Candidates should allow adequate time for licensing and credentialing prior to the anticipated January 2027 start date
