Physician – Urology (Locum Tenens)


Description:

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Urologist for a locum tenens opportunity with a hospital. This role offers high-acuity, independent practice with full-spectrum urologic care in a community hospital setting. The position is ideal for physicians looking for flexible, intermittent coverage with strong support and comprehensive travel accommodations.

About the Facility

Hospital is a 76-bed acute care hospital serving the greater Chambersburg region. The facility provides a wide range of medical services and utilizes Epic as its electronic medical record system. Physicians will see patients onsite and provide call coverage support for nearby communities including Gettysburg, Waynesboro, and Fulton County.

Compensation:

• Pay rate: $3000 On-Call
• Travel expenses fully reimbursed, including:
• Mileage
• Rental car
• Hotel accommodations
• Flights
• Malpractice insurance provided

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour on-call urology coverage, including inpatient consults and surgical procedures
• Evaluate and treat patients across all age groups (pediatrics through geriatrics)
• Respond to urologic emergencies and inpatient consults
• Provide phone consult coverage for affiliated regional facilities
• Accurately document all patient encounters using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care

Qualifications:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology
• Active Pennsylvania medical license (or willingness to obtain)
• DEA certification required
• Ability to work independently without APP support
• Strong clinical and communication skills

Working Hours:

• 24-hour continuous call coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Scheduled coverage blocks include:
• September 1 – September 8
• November 16 – November 23
• Ongoing PRN coverage approximately every 12–14 weeks
• Estimated 10–12 hours of callbacks per day

Skills:

• Broad urologic clinical and procedural expertise
• Strong decision-making in high-acuity situations
• Excellent communication across multiple care settings
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Ability to manage a call-heavy schedule independently
