Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA Needed in Fort Wayne, IN:
Start Date: March 2026
Contract Length: 3 months ongoing
Schedule: Schedule: Primarily Rounding + Medical Management (Calls) especially on weekends with no guarantee on OR time at the moment. They would work 4 10 hour days each week from 0630-1700. Take ICU call 1-2 nights a week 1700-0700 and then be on call on the weekends from Saturday 0700-0630 on Monday morning. Mon. - Fri 6:30am-4:30pm
Mon-Thur - Onsite Coverage: (7am-430pm) Start at 7am for all Locums for CV so they can attend the CV Surgery Daily Mtg
Mon- Thur Oncall: Start On Call at 430pm
The APP can go back to the hotel to take call and be available for Call Back to the hospital
Fri: Onsite Day Coverage: 7am-5pm
Fri: Oncall: Start On Call at 5pm
Sat: 24 Hr Coverage
Approx 4 hours onsite (Arrive 6am to begin rounding)
Sun: 24 Hour Coverage
Apprx. 4 hours onsite (Arrive 6am to begin rounding)
* 7 on 7 off is the preferred schedule from Mon- Sun
Work Details:
Trauma Level: 2
Skills required: must have cardiothoracic experience. Daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU, stepdown) and new consults as well as discharging patients. OR - EVH hemapro 2; help train new APPs on EVH; some open vein harvest may be needed with some fem-pop surgeries usually done in a bridging technique. first assist on some cases once you learn our surgeon's routines - there may be OR call for emergencies while on call for the weekend if needed. PAs must know how to EVH ~ 500 case/10 yrs exp.
· Our specialties:
o cardiac - all adult cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections, etc); we have a high acuity of patients, some very sick
o thoracic - mostly robotic surgeries but some VATs and thoracotomies; inclusive of all thoracic surgeries except no esophageal (lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal mass, etc)
o vascular - all types of open vascular surgeries (CEA, AAA , leg revascularizations, etc)
o heart failure - LVAD, ECMO, impellas
Practice Setting:
Inpatient
Requirements:
Board Certification: Yes
Certifications required: ACLS, BLS

IN License Required or COMPACT
Credentialing Timeframe: ASAP
