VASCULAR SURGERY APP – LOCUM

Start: ASAP – Ongoing
Duration: Likely 6 months
FTE: 40 hours/week
Setting: 100% Inpatient / Hospital-Based
Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric

SCHEDULE

✓ 24/7 coverage shared among 7–8 APPs
✓ Flexible schedule with 10- or 12-hour shifts
✓ Typical shifts: 7a–5p, 7a–7p, 9a–9p, or 7p–7a
✓ Nights and weekends required on a rotating basis
✓ 40 hours/week; 3×12-hour shifts may be possible during adequately staffed weeks
✓ Call approximately 1–2 days per week
✓ Call may be in-house OR coverage or beeper/home call
✓ Call-back is typically less than 4 hours

ROLE

✓ 1 PA or NP with RNFA required
✓ Inpatient medical management and daily rounding
✓ Pre- and post-operative vascular surgery care
✓ First assisting in the OR for approximately 5 vascular surgeons
✓ Vascular surgery only — no cross-specialty coverage
✓ Must be comfortable with open vascular procedures, including peripheral bypass, carotid surgery, AV fistula creation, and open abdominal aortic surgery
✓ Bedside procedures may include suturing, PermCath removal, wound VACs, dressing changes, and wound care
✓ No IR procedures

WORKLOAD

✓ Approximately 15–20 total patients on census
✓ Round individually on approximately 3–5 patients/day
✓ Approximately 7–8 OR cases/day
✓ Mix of floor rounding and OR coverage
✓ High-acuity, busy vascular surgery service
✓ Approximately 450-bed hospital
✓ Epic EMR

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

✓ 2–3 years of vascular surgery experience required
✓ Cardiac surgery experience with vascular surgery cross-coverage may also be considered
✓ Active New York State license at submission
✓ BLS and ACLS
✓ NCCPA or ANCC/AANP certification
✓ DEA required
✓ NP candidates must have RNFA

✓ Estimated credentialing: 90 days
