Cardiovascular ICU Physician Assistant – Columbus, OH
🗓️ Start: October 12, 2026
⏳ Length: 3-month locum assignment (13 weeks) ongoing
🕒 Schedule: Full-time, 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), weekends included, no call
Position Highlights
CVICU/Progressive Care Unit managing pre- and post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
No first assist responsibilities
Work alongside Cardiovascular and Transplant Surgery teams
Care for patients following:
CABG
Valve surgery
TAVR
Heart transplant
Lung transplant
Pre-op cardiac surgery
Responsibilities
Daily postoperative management of medically and surgically complex patients
Hemodynamic optimization
Fluid management and diuresis
Arrhythmia management
Anticoagulation management
Blood pressure and glycemic management
Respiratory optimization
Pain management
Chest tube removal and management
Temporary epicardial pacing wire removal
Temporary drain removal
Wound care and dressing changes
Infection surveillance
Renal dysfunction management
Electrolyte replacement
Nutritional optimization
Requirements
Active Ohio PA license (facility is not willing to license)
3+ years of Cardiovascular ICU experience
Heart failure/transplant experience required
Lung transplant experience required
No first-time locum providers
Local candidates strongly preferred
Assignment Details
Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center
1099 Locum Tenens
Credentialing: 60–90 days
Ideal Candidate
This role is best suited for an experienced CVICU Physician Assistant who has managed high-acuity cardiac surgery patients, including heart and lung transplant populations, and is comfortable independently managing complex postoperative care overnight.
