Locum Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Cardiothoracic/Cardiac ICU (13-Week Assignment with Extension Option)

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our pediatric cardiothoracic/cardiac ICU team on a 13-week locum assignment, with the option to extend. This high-acuity, intense position requires a skilled NP with pediatric cardiac experience to provide first-call support in a fast-paced, critical care setting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as first call in the Pediatric Cardiothoracic/Cardiac ICU, providing expert care for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
-Work in collaboration with attending physicians, with the understanding that they are typically on-call but may be sleeping.
-Perform a variety of critical care procedures, including chest tube removal, pacer wire removal, intubations, chest tube placement, art line placement, and TT line removal.
-Provide high-level care and support for children with complex cardiac conditions, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
-Utilize EPIC for patient documentation and EMR management.

Requirements:
Active California NP license (required).
Critical Care/Acute Care NP certification with hospital experience (required).
Extensive experience in Pediatric Cardiothoracic/Cardiac ICU (NO surgery experience needed).
Proficiency in high-acuity pediatric cardiac ICU care with a strong ability to perform critical procedures.
BLS and PALS certifications (required).
Self-scheduling flexibility.
Ability to begin the assignment within a 30-day credentialing timeframe.
