Assignment Overview
Setting: Hospital-based, Trauma Level II (480 beds)
Type: 24-hour call only (no clinic or OR time)
Coverage: Vacation coverage for FTE cardiac surgeon
EMR: Cerner
Credentialing:
Standard: 90–120 days
Emergency privileges: Available in 3–4 weeks

Clinical Details
Call Frequency: Very minimal — only a few calls per year
Surgeries: 200 cardiac surgeries annually (4/week)
Emergent cases only during coverage (elective cases paused)
Procedures: ABR, AVR
OR Setup: 2 cardiac ORs (only one running at a time)
Support Staff:
1 FTE and 1 PRN cardiac surgeon
OR APP (PA), ICU APP on call
MICU handles medicine patients; SICU handles surgical; Neuro ICU shifting scope
Patient Population Age: 18+
Transplants: No heart transplants
