Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Long-Term Locum Opportunity in Virginia

Schedule: 1–2 weeks per month (Monday to Monday)
Aya Locums is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a long-term locum assignment in Virginia. This opportunity offers a consistent schedule, light call volume, and strong support from an experienced APP team—ideal for surgeons seeking stability with flexibility.
Opportunity Highlights:
Clinic + Call: Standard weekday schedule (8 AM–5 PM) with 24-hour call during assignment weeks
Clinic Days: 2–3 afternoons/week following rounds
Morning Rounds: 7–8 AM, typically alongside an APP
Call Coverage: 24-hour call with light volume; APP support available for nights/weekends
Support Staff: Robust APP team coverage
EMR: Epic
Clinical Details:
Case Load: No scheduled surgeries currently
Clinic Focus: Post-op follow-ups (patients first seen by APPs)
Procedures May Include:
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Aortic and valvular repair/replacement
Atrial fibrillation management
TAVR
Endovascular aneurysm repair
Minimally invasive cardiac procedures
Candidate Requirements:
MD or DO with completed training in General & Cardiothoracic Surgery (or integrated program)
Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Active Virginia license or in process
Current DEA license
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
Proficient in a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures
Epic experience preferred
