Neuro ICU APP (NP/PA) | Nights | Academic Level I Trauma Center | New Orleans, LA

Location: Downtown New Orleans, LA
Shift:3-5 Shifts per week
Coverage Type: Ongoing scheduled hours
Credentialing: ~60 days
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: 1099

Position Highlights:
446-bed academic Level I trauma hospital with a 16-bed closed Neuro ICU

Work under 24-hour APP coverage with Neurointensivist backup (daily rounding + phone support overnight)

See 10–20 patients/night based on acuity (adult neurologic ICU population)

Advanced neurocritical care environment: stroke, trauma, ICH, SAH, seizures, TBI, and postop neurosurgical care

Strong interdisciplinary team: RN, RT, neurocritical care attendings, APPs

EMR: Epic

Skills Required:
Full scope of ICU & neurocritical care management

Experience with mechanical ventilation, sedation, hemodynamic monitoring

Minor procedures: wound care, dressing changes, I&D, NGTs, caths, IVs, etc.

Familiarity with neuro imaging, stroke pathways, and critical neurologic emergencies

Preferred Skills:
CVC & arterial line insertion

Lumbar puncture

Stroke documentation (NIHSS, ICH score, Hunt & Hess)

Post-op neurosurgical care including craniotomies, decompressions, aneurysms

CT head & CXR interpretation, ECG reading

Requirements:
Board-Certified NP (AGACNP preferred) or PA

Active Louisiana license (or already in process – required)

DEA & LA CSR required

Certifications: ENLS, BLS, ACLS

Minimum 2–3 years Neuro ICU or ICU experience
